Overview:
We're looking for a dynamic leader who enjoys a fast-paced environment! This leader will be responsible for monitoring customer interactions with staff and providing feedback, identifying training needs, completing performance evaluations, and providing career coaching. Responsibilities:

    • First-level leadership role whose primary duties involve people management, coaching and development, business process support, and performance measurement and improvement
    • Helps evaluate existing systems and tools and plan for the future and also leads improvement initiatives
    • Comprehensive insurance knowledge base and a basic understanding of workforce management
    • Involves direct supervision of approximately 15 representatives which includes personal action, salary administration, performance reviews, and professional development plans
    • Gather and analyze performance data including customer satisfaction information
    • Other duties that are important but secondary include acting as a liaison to partners and vendors

Qualifications:

    • Four to eight (4-8) years of experience in Personal Lines insurance or equivalent experience with increasing levels of responsibility required
    • One to four (1-4) years of managing or supervising others required
    • AA degree in business or equivalent required; BA/BS preferred
    • Insurance industry call center experience preferred
    • Knowledge of call center industry and technology required
    • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required
    • Property & Casualty license required; CIC, AIC, CPCU designations preferred

    • This job requires standing and sitting
    • Ability to use desktop computers
    • Must be able to lift 25 lbs
    • Flexibility in work hours - work shift would be from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Loss Control Consultant (21040)      Location:  Spokane

Job Summary
  Are you a commercial and agri loss control professional committed to building excellent customer relationships with agents and insureds? Are you ready to be strong contributing member of a commercial lines team?

Unigard recognizes the importance of quality Loss Control services in attracting and retaining profitable mid market business. This Consultant will be a technical customer service pro, playing an integral role on our Commercial Lines team by partnering with our Eastern Washington agents, insureds and underwriting.  As a consultant, you’ll identify and evaluate exposures related to all major lines of coverage (including agri) and partner with our insureds in implementing appropriate controls. Planning and providing service to larger, mid-high hazard operations and occupancies is an integral part of the job.

Our team based culture encourages individual initiative, team collaboration, continuous education in a pay for performance environment. Since this position is in the field approximately 50% of the time we also provide a company car.

1. Improve profitability by providing consulting services to complex, large-sized policyholders with minimal direction or guidance. This includes services such as performing noise surveys, ergonomic evaluations, in-depth loss analysis, air surveys, and developing and presenting training topics. Assist in the implementation of controls which reduce loss frequency and severity, and where changes are necessary, negotiate with policyholder management. 

2. Assist and build credibility with the Commercial Lines underwriting staff by offering insight and advice regarding policyholder operations, exposures, and the adequacy of controls for large-sized accounts, focusing on atypical business operations. Correctly identify critical recommendations and unacceptable risks, recognizing situations that demand additional action and follow up and pursue solutions. 

3. Effectively sell recommendations to policyholders using quality letters and reports, making sure to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information.   

4. Provide guidance and oversight to Loss Control Representatives on service accounts at the direction of the manager, and assist the special account service team in resolving service concerns and issues. 

5. Gain an understanding of department goals and objectives and deliver expected results consistently. Explain services and products to agents as requested by manager.

6. Improve processes within the Company to increase the level and quality of service provided to internal and external customers.
  Required Education &/or Exp
  •5 or more years related loss control experience, with demonstrated achievements and progressive responsibilities
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Insurance or equivalent
•Continuing education such as OHST, CSP, CPCU, CRM, CIH, ARM or AFIS designation.

Job Related Knowledge and Skills:

•Comprehensive knowledge of industry processes, controls, and hazards
•Demonstrated superior communication skills
•Demonstrated understanding of the insurance industry and the independent insurance business environment
•Demonstrated knowledge and application of ergonomics, crime prevention, DOT, NFPA, OSHA, MSHA, CPSC, and ACGIH standards
•Completion of loss control advanced training guide

Preferred Qualifications:
•5 or more years multi-line insurance loss control experience with a property/casualty carrier
•Agri loss control experience
•Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation

Volunteer Opportunities

 

Our chapter has teamed up with Safeco Insurance and the Safeco Cares Committee to provide volunteer opportunities to CPCUs.  We will be keeping our chapter website updated with current and upcoming projects that the Safeco Cares Committee is working on and we invite all our local CPCUs in Idaho and Washington to participate. 

Employee-managed Safeco Cares Committees serve as liaisons between Safeco and the communities where the company does business. Committee members work with non-profit organizations to plan volunteer projects for groups of employees. Your local committee is comprised of employees crossing over several different departments.
